We opened the gym out of necessity for our family. To save our family. Not in a sense of someone was ill or dying. But, my husband was a separate entity living in the same house, as me and the children, but on different schedules and primarily communicating via phone calls and photos. So, the foundation of our gym was built on restoring and protecting our life together as a family. My husband was working crazy long hours and I was managing the kids, mostly by myself, while working a corporate job out of town.
I distinctly remember a conversation with my husband where we both said, "This is not what we signed up for." We did not get married and start a family to never have time together! Starting the gym was our window to take back control of our time.
The other reason to opening a gym, was to help people! We really enjoyed this style of fitness for ourselves and wanted to extended that to others. The variety of workout modalities, movement combinations, and the community is what kept us engaged and wanting more. We wanted to do more, learn more, and just be more for ourselves! Ya know that saying... you should thrive instead of survive... that was what we were experiencing!
The community part though, was the secret sauce to our consistency! While we were bettering ourselves, we naturally wanted everyone else around us to succeed as well. So, we started sharing what was working for us and how it could benefit them. Fast forward to the opportunity for us to open our own gym, (it was in another town, that was listed as the second obese county in the state) and this made our heart crumble. How could we be having such an awesome experience with fitness and health and know that there is a nearby community that was in need of what we have; a lifestyle approach to health! We knew the impact it had on our own lives and we wanted that for others.
Our first month we had five individuals. Yes, count 'em on one hand, 5! But, we knew there would be a ripple effect with these 5 people. Their improved quality of life would impact their households, their extended family, their workspace, and (drum roll, please) THE COMMUNITY!!!!
We are here to help people move better through life! So, what part of "life" can we help you with!?
